The nature and number of educators is determined by regulations set by the NSW Department of Education and Communities. We rate the importance of educators highly in the kindergarten and actually exceed the educator regulations. Each of our classes has an Early Childhood trained teacher and an assistant with a Diploma or Certificate III working with the children who are also responsible for the programming and organisation of the class.
The educators are allocated to a class at the beginning of the year. We are very fortunate at North Epping Kindergarten that we do not have a high turnover of our educators. Most, if not all of our educators have been at the centre for a number of years. We also have a Special Needs Teacher working with children who have additional needs, including children learning English as a second language.
All educators are qualified in First Aid, Emergency Asthma and Anaphylaxis training and Child Protection. Educators regularly attend workshops to keep up with current research and methodology.
We had experienced a couple of daycare centres before coming to North Epping Kindergarten and we have always found the staff at North Epping to be top-notch educators. They took the time to get to know my children personally and tailor their program and style to suit them and their individual needs so they could really flourish. Most importantly they are some of the loveliest, most caring ladies around so the children really love them and the parents love leaving their children in their first rate care.Nicki, mum of two kids
Education, especially in the early years, is a partnership between families and staff. It is important that communication between home and Kindy is clear and effective. For matters that require more than a quick chat please make an appointment with the teacher so time can be set aside to fully discuss your child’s progress.
If necessary we have a complaints procedure in place as per our policy. If at any time you have any concerns/questions, please do not hesitate to speak with the class teacher and/or Director.
We would love to get to know all family members. We encourage you to become involved in your child’s education. Children are proud of their families and love to show them off to their friends! Please feel free to visit the kindergarten at any time. Parents are always welcome to come and share interests and skills with the children. Parents are asked to volunteer to come on ROSTER, during their child’s session time, to assist staff and children. Roster time is usually 9am-12pm. If you are unable to help on roster, you may be able to assist with washing, craft preparation, shopping, making play dough and other jobs as needed.
The only way our centre can function is with an active MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL COMMITTEE. It is important to consider helping on one of these committees, and essential to support the fund raising, working bees, social events and other activities organised by these committees. WITHOUT THIS SUPPORT WE CANNOT PROVIDE THE PROGRAMS WE DO.
Being involved in the centre, either on committees or participating in specific events and programs, is a great way to make new friends and become part of the community. Not to mention your kids love seeing you involved.
We feel very fortunate to have had both of our children’s preschool education at North Epping Kindy. The quality of teaching is superb and we could not have wished for a better first experience to their education.
My added experience on the management committee, created an opportunity to work together with parents and teachers of the kindergarten to enrich my sense of involvement in the community in an enjoyable and rewarding way.David, dad of two kids
The kindergarten is licensed by the N.S.W. Department of Education and Care and is incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act. The conduct of the Kindergarten is covered by the Rules of the Association, by the Education and Care Services National Regulations and under the policies determined by the Management Committee. The Management Committee is made up of current Kindergarten parents in conjunction with the Director and Staff. All parents are welcome to attend the Annual General Meeting at the beginning of the year when these positions are filled, as well as general Committee Meetings throughout the year. Although the kindergarten receives some funding from the state government, we need to fundraise in order to buy equipment and make improvements to the buildings and playgrounds. A Social Committee is appointed each year to coordinate this. The rules and regulations of the kindergarten are designed to ensure that the kindergarten is conducted in a fair and equitable manner and that all parents are aware of their obligations. These obligations include making themselves available, whenever possible, to attend meetings, help at working bees, support the Social Committee in their fundraising efforts, as well as helping in the classroom as needed.
